Depuis 1992, année de la formation d'Aka Moon, une série d'albums a marqué l'histoire du mythique trio de jazz. Après un parcours initiatique en Centrafrique en compagnie des Pygmées Aka, Fabrizio Cassol, Michel Hatzigeorgiou et Stéphane Galland entament un travail musical en profondeur alors totalement nouveau, notamment sur les aspects rythmiques. Le premier choc : l'Inde ; deux albums y sont enregistrés et la rencontre avec le grand percussionniste carnatique U. K. Sivaraman (musique de l'Inde du Sud) va profondément marquer le groupe. Puis c'est à nouveau l'Afrique et la rencontre avec le maître du Sabar sénégalais Doudou N'Diaye Rose qui crée de nouvelles "constellations" musicales. Ces dernières vont ensuite se multiplier (collaboration avec un Big Band de DJ's, des musiciens des Balkans, ou encore l'incursion des sonates de Domenico Scarlatti au sein d'un quartet de jazz...). Le 20e et dernier disque de ce coffret est un enregistrement inédit : Light ship trio.
