This article explores the on-going debate at the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) on the conflict between restrictive contracts issued by publishers of digital works, and current copyright exceptions for libraries. Has the principle of "freedom of contract" overridden certain "freedoms" of access and use of information available to libraries and the public ?
